Sprint Workouts

Sprinting has multiple benefits. One study observed that serum growth hormone was still approximately ten times the basal value in sprint trained athletes after one hour of recovery. It is suggested that the exercise-induced increase in growth hormone could have important physiological effects, including increased protein synthesis and sparing of protein degradation leading to maintained or increased muscle mass. Another benefit is an increase in VO2 max, a measure of cardiovascular efficiency. And then there's the thing that everyone is interested in, fat loss. High intensity interval exercise such as sprinting has been shown to burn more fat in less time than steady state moderate intensity exercise such as spending 45-60 minutes on a treadmill or elliptical. 

Sprint workouts are held Saturday mornings at:
Corona del Sol High School or Hanger Park in 
​Tempe and are open to anyone.
